Membership & eligibility
Join the credit union your local built.
Membership is open to the whole IBEW Local 558 family. All it takes to start is $25 in Share Savings.
How a credit union works
Owned by members, not stockholders.
A credit union offers the same accounts and loans you’d find anywhere. The difference is who it works for.
Who owns it
You do.
Open an account and you become an owner. Every member gets one vote, no matter how much is in the account.
Who runs it
Members you elect.
A volunteer board of members, chosen by members at the annual meeting. They serve because they care about the credit union, not for a paycheck.
Who profits
Members do.
We’re not-for-profit. What we earn comes back to you as better rates on savings and lower rates on loans.
Who can join
If you’re part of the Local 558 family, you’re in.
You can open a membership if you are:
- A member of IBEW Local 558
- A retiree of IBEW Local 558
- An employee of IBEW Local 558
- Immediate family or a household member of anyone above
What you’ll need
- A government-issued photo ID
- Your Social Security number
- $25 to deposit in Share Savings
Your $25 stays in your account. It’s your share of ownership in the credit union.
